Teaching Method
My piano students enjoy my playful and creative approach to learning. I have a clear long-term vision for my students and provide them with the step-by-step instruction that nurtures a feeling of success.
Balance is important to me. I mix playfulness with practice, and I carefully balance my lessons to cover:
- reading skill development
- listening skills
- composition and improvisation
- chords and lead sheets
- technique development
- written theory homework
- pieces in a variety of styles

With regular studio challenges and multiple performance opportunities throughout the year, students are continually challenged and encouraged to grow and progress.
As a member of the National Music Teacher's Association and the Utah Music Teacher's Association my students will be prepared to participate in the Achievement in Music program, or AIM. This is a student program that allows students to find achievement in 3 clusters: Theory & Ear Training; Technique & Sight Reading; and Performance.
But more important than anything, I hope I can help my students love music and enjoy their time developing an awesome talent. The gift of music is something that can last a lifetime!
